Flow fields from a very modest 64**3 Fourier-mode simulation of the freely-decaying flow in a triply-periodic box are used to show the use of discrete, orthogonal (spline) wavelets for the purpose of filtering, compression etc.
A 128**3 Fourier-mode simulation with large-scale forcing, settling at a Taylor micro-scale Reynolds number around 45. The above mentioned 'objective'-threshold filtering technique is applied (around 0.5% of the coefficients are active).
